Where did I find it?
So I recently got a broken game refunded on steam and had a few dollars to spare so I figured, why not see if there's anything interesting to add to my review list? In my quest, I discovered this totally free gem of a game which I will now proceed to gush about for the next page or so.
A plot synopsis;
You play as junior Clevland detective August Richter. Set in 1920's prohibition-era America, you and your senior partner Leslie Clark are investigating illegal supplies of alcohol throughout the city. One night you go by yourself undercover to a local speakeasy in hopes of discovering a lead and in the process meet Myer Eastman, a large player in the Jewish Mafia and the man that has a good portion of the city in his pocket. Are you looking for a lover close to home like your faithful partner? Or are you into the whirlwind that Myer Eastman could bring? Well, my fellow trash heap the choice is yours.
Whose pants are we getting into?
As I said we have to options for our 1920's gay love affair.Leslie Clark - Our Partner;
Ah, the classic in love with your best friend routine. Leslie is hilarious, he loves food and sleep (making him an icon and an eternal mood) and is constantly messing around and teasing Richter. He does get super overprotective and if you tell him Myer flirted with you he gets adorably jealous. He also has a super compelling backstory. I'd go down his route if you want something less scandalous and more wholesome.

Myer Eastman- The Gangster;
If you want an actually decently written bad boy then Myer is your go-to here. Very charismatic and surprisingly non-violent for a gangster. This man will flirt. Like this guy threw subtly out the goddamn windowing. Considering being a gay gangster was a great way to get shot up until the early 2000s it is particularly ballsy of him to be so very open about his intentions. He's Jewish which you find out pretty quickly and seems more like a businessman than a criminal. I'd recommend Myer if you want to be swept off your feet by a hot mobster.
What I did like
The thing that really sold me on this within the first 30 seconds of playing this was the goddamn music. THE MUSIC. I have gotten used to the same repetitive royalty-free crap looped on every single one of these and it was so refreshing to hear and actually gorgeous 1920's style soundtrack. The art style is pretty as hell and I found myself loving these three characters to bits because they were so well written for what little writing there was. The idea of a detective navigating his way through a crime-infested city while doubting his own conscience is a set up for a visual novel that I am 110% behind as a concept. The general writing style and dialogue were really well done, none of that clunkiness I've come to expect from a lot of visual novels. There is also a genuine attempt at historical accuracy within the dialogue through the use of time appropriate slang, even a helpful glossary for words you may not understand. I am super impressed by almost every aspect of this game.
What I didn't like
This game is short. It took me a little under an hour to finish both routes and the payoff at the end was a little bit disappointing. I understand it's free but it was so good I want more goddamn it! I WANT MORE OF THIS GAME.
My final verdict
If you love some queer historical romance, if you love romance visual novels, or if you literally just have an hour spare PLAY THIS GAME. It's free, it's fantastic, and it's quite possibly my favourite game to review to date.I give this diamond 4/5 prohibited bottles of vodka.

I know what I'm doing this weekend. (if only there were Lovecraft elements of sea Gods and Space demons, then it would be game of the year in my eyes).
